The Debian package comes with an extensive testsuite. Many tests require to run
the tests in a VM, though, thus requiring to set up one with
``autopkgtest-build-qemu``. This VM also requires a decent amount of free
memory, spiking with a usage of more than 20GB of RAM during test runs
(especially the ``debian/tests/zfs-test-suite`` can use up a lot). It can
therefore be necessary to create a dedicated VM with enough CPU cores and RAM.

Running the test suite requires a decent amount of time.
